- Christmas Around the World 2007 -
Last night was Breanna's 1st year participating in New Hope's Homeschool Group "Christmas Around the World." What a wonderful way for the kids to learn interesting facts about other countries and how they celebrate Christmas.
Breanna and I studied the country of Norway. We baked Norwegian sugar cookies to share with the group and they were yummy! I love the picture above showing all 4 children admiring the cookies and waiting o' so patiently to try one (maybe even two or three).
We were so proud of Breanna and all she learned through this Project. She did great with her presentation!

Wal-Mart bag and a six year olds Imagination!
Ok. this one is for all of the moms and Grandmoms out there who visit my blog and in doing so live vicariously through me.
Just when I thought my daughter Breanna had challenged me one too many times today, I walked into the Hearth Room and saw this. "So what?" you say, "It's just another kid wearing a Wal-Mart plastic bag." That is where you have gone wrong. This child told me that she was wearing this "Oxygen Tank" so that she could go on her Mission to Space. Now if you have shopped at Target you know that they have chosen to place on the side of their bags "10 ways to reuse your plastic bag". I will list them for those of you who are not familiar with them.
1. Tiny Trash Can Liner
2. Doggy Duty
3. Water Balloon
4. Road Trip Rubbish
5. Soggy Laundry
6. Ice Pack
7. Toiletry Tote
8. Kitty Litter Liner
9. Tomorrow's Lunch Bag
10. Care Package Padding
Nowhere do I see make believe "Oxygen Tank". Maybe we are all missing something. Could it be that these "mature eyes" that we have earned though the years are no longer working as well as our children's. Maybe we need to stop looking at just the obvious and look beyond the obvious. Jesus teaches us to come to Him like little children. I wonder if this is because little children are still able to see the wonder and amazement in almost anything - Even a Wal-Mart plastic Bag!

It was the night before Thanksgiving and all through the house,
they were dreaming of Turkey and good Treats for their mouth!

"Mama said there'd be days like this..."
Do you ever feel like this Barbie Doll - The weight of the World is upon you!
Don't worry, God's Promises are TIMELESS!
"Spaghetti Noodle" Writing
O.k. so some of you are wishing you too could play with your food, but you can't unless you are in Kindergarden. On this day we were practicing some of our letters when before I knew it Breanna had begun to write out some of her favorite words. Breanna also learned what primary colors were and how to create secondary colors by mixing. She continues to have a Blast!

Breanna's "General Store"
Breanna and I read the books "The Rag Coat" and "When I was Young in the Mountains." Here is were the idea for her general store came up. Many items were placed out that Breanna needed to weigh on a kitchen scale or measure with a measuring tape. She learned that back in those days many items were purchased by weight from large barrels. We both enjoyed playing store!
- On The Farm -
I have been a little behind on updating Breanna's Kindergarden pictures - so here it goes - A couple weeks back we did a Unit Study on FARMS and the importance of each animal found on a Farm. Breanna made a Bar Graph after asking 26 people what thier favorite "Farm Animal" was. Just in case you were wondering, the COW came out with the most votes!
